Success Stories

The Brand

It started with one product: a countertop water filter pitcher that people genuinely liked. On the brand's own website, customers kept coming back for replacement filters month after month, no reminders needed.

But on Amazon, the story stopped at the first sale. One product page. Around 320 reviews. A listing that hadn't been touched since the day it launched. The pitcher sold. The filters — where the real money lives — did not.

It was a classic "great product, one and done" business, and it was leaving the most valuable part of the model on the table.

Where They Started

When we opened up the account, the problems were basic, but they were expensive:

  • Ad spend was flowing into broad, browsing-stage searches like "water pitcher" and "kitchen gadgets" — high traffic, low intent.

  • The listing itself was thin: no strong title, no rich brand content, no Store page.

  • There was no filter multipack and no Subscribe & Save, so buyers had no built-in reason to come back through Amazon.

  • More than half of all sales depended on ads. Turn the ads off, and the business stopped.

The numbers told the story on their own: ACOS 44%, TACOS 26%, conversion rate 8.4%. A brand running hard just to stay in place.

Our Amazon Growth Framework

The pitcher was the hook. The filters were the business. And nobody was selling the filters.

So we didn't start by touching bids. A listing with no rich content and no Store page can't convert, no matter how well the ads are run. Instead, we worked through five stages, each one funding the next:

  1. Demand — find the searches that actually buy, not just browse

  2. Conversion — turn a thin listing into one that earns the click

  3. Acquisition — put budget behind the keywords that convert

  4. Retention — turn a one-time pitcher purchase into a monthly filter habit

  5. Profitability — let repeat revenue fund the next stage of growth

The Growth System

Five pillars, built to work together — not as isolated fixes, but as a system where each stage reinforced the next.

Demand Intelligence. Before touching a single word on the listing, we needed to know what buyers actually wanted.

  • Analyzed real search data to stop paying for browsing terms like "water pitcher" and "kitchen gadgets"

  • Identified what this pitcher was already being bought alongside — water test strips, reusable bottles — which shaped a future bundle

  • Checked Brand Analytics to see how much traffic and sales competitors were capturing on replacement filter searches

  • Used Claude to work through 320+ reviews and surface what loyal buyers actually loved, and what was holding others back

Conversion Optimization. Turning that intelligence into a page that sells.

  • Rewrote the title and bullets using the exact words shoppers were already typing — "hard water," "tap water," "fridge door fit"

  • Used AI to turn a bare-bones listing into one that actually explains filter life, what it removes, and why the refills are worth it

  • Swapped in a stronger hero image — click-through rate jumped 58%

  • Built out rich brand content and a real Store page, neither of which had existed before

  • Added a short video showing the water actually filtering, not just describing it

Advertising Engine. Funding growth with campaigns built on real intent.

  • Rebuilt the ad account from scratch, splitting brand, category, competitor, and replacement filter searches into their own campaigns

  • Cut wasted spend automatically and redirected that budget to keywords already driving sales

  • Layered in a mix of ad types — Sponsored Products, video, and display — with smarter bidding once the foundation was solid

  • Result: average click cost dropped from $1.90 to $1.20

Customer Lifetime Value. Turning the first pitcher purchase into a recurring habit.

  • Added a filter 6-pack and a pitcher-plus-filter bundle, based on what customers were already buying together

  • Pushed Subscribe & Save on filters with a small discount — subscribers grew from 540 to 5,100

  • Used purchase timing data to know when a customer was likely due for a new filter

  • Used targeted promotions to convert first-time pitcher buyers into filter subscribers

External Demand. Most Amazon agencies stop at the ad account. We didn't.

  • Used Amazon Attribution to track traffic coming in from outside Amazon

  • Partnered with creators who talk about clean water and home living

  • Sent email traffic and dedicated landing pages straight into the Amazon listing

  • Optimized for voice shopping and Google Shopping too — extra doors into the same listing

What the Data Told Us

  • What people searched: confirmed the account was wasting budget on browsing terms like "water pitcher," while under-investing in high-intent terms like "water filter pitcher for hard water"

  • What people bought together: revealed which products this pitcher was already being purchased alongside, shaping the bundle strategy

  • What competitors were winning: showed rivals pulling ahead with fuller listings and Store pages, while this brand had neither — fixing both moved organic sales from 39% to 62%

  • Why repeat buyers matter: with no Subscribe & Save and no multipack, every sale was a first sale. Fixing that took Subscribe & Save from 7% to 22% of orders

How We Used AI

AI wasn't a gimmick here — it did real, specific work at each stage:

  • Sorted through 320+ reviews to find what loyal buyers actually valued

  • Studied competitor listings in the category to find exactly where this brand was falling short

  • Optimized the page for Amazon's AI shopping assistant, Rufus, so it could answer questions about what the filter removes and how long it lasts

  • Tested hero images until one actually earned the click

  • Separated real buying searches (like "replacement water filter 6 pack") from browsing searches (like "water pitcher")

Average order value also grew, now sitting at $47. Click-through rate jumped 58% after the new hero image alone.

Beyond the headline numbers, deeper metrics — new customer rate, click share, and search ranking — all told the same story: this growth was real, not a lucky month.

And the badge that mattered most: #1 Best Seller in the water filter pitcher subcategory.

The numbers above aren't a one-off — they're consistent with results across our portfolio. Deeper metrics like new customer rate and search ranking told the same story: this growth was real, not a lucky month.

The Takeaway

Ad spend went up only a little. Revenue more than tripled.

Winning on Amazon isn't one tactic. It's the combined effect of better demand, better conversion, better advertising, better retention, and better profit. Each one strengthens the next — that's how a brand that used to make one sale per customer became the #1 Best Seller in its subcategory in nine months.

Same pitcher, same brand, a completely different business — and it started with one conversation. Book a strategy call to see what this framework could do for your listing.
